چکیده

The objective of this work is to evaluate the action original Roundup® on snail Biomphalaria glabrata infected and not by Schistosoma mansoni observing its mortality reproductive biology. Snails were submitted for 30 days aqueous solutions Roundup at concentrations 0.1, 0.09, 0.08, 0.07, 0.06, 0.05, 0.04, 0.03, 0.02, 0.018, 0.016, 0.014, 0.012 0.01 (%) determine LC50. To analyze activity B. glabrata, against pesticide, four groups formed: exposed pesticide; (control); exposed; exposed(control). LC50 (0.012% solution Roundup) caused most up 95% 24, 48 72 h during experimental period (30 days), lost effect totally after 27 days. non-infected snails was 30.3 ± 20.5 eggs in 2.7 1.2 egg masses, there a reduction 51% average number hatched (11.5 7.5) comparison control group (23.9 18.0) weeks (p = 0.003). results indicate that lethal concentration (LC50) 0.012% has significant significantly diminished fertility with group.

Molluscicidal and ovicidal activities of plant extracts of the Piperaceae on Biomphalaria glabrata (Say, 1818).

Schistosomiasis is a tropical disease caused by Schistosoma and occurs in 54 countries, mainly in South America, the Caribbean region, Africa and the eastern Mediterranean. Currently, 5 to 6 million Brazilian people are infected and 30,000 are under infection risk. Typical of poor regions, this disease is associated with the lack of basic sanitation and very frequently to the use of contaminate...

EVALUATION OF THE MOLLUSCICIDAL POTENTIAL OF HYDROALCOHOLIC EXTRACTS OF Jatropha gossypiifolia Linnaeus, 1753 ON Biomphalaria glabrata (Say, 1818)

The action of extracts from the stem, leaves, and fruit of Jatropha gossypiifolia on Biomphalaria glabrata was studied by analyzing survival, feeding capacity and oviposition ability. The extracts were obtained by macerating the plant parts in 92% ethanol, which were then evaporated until a dry residue was obtained and phytochemically studied. The molluscicidal activity on B. glabrata was inves...

Usnic Acid Potassium Salt: An Alternative for the Control of Biomphalaria glabrata (Say, 1818)

In Brazil, the snail Biomphalaria glabrata is the most important vector of schistosomiasis due to its wide geographical distribution, high infection rate and efficient disease transmission. Among the methods of schistosomiasis control, the World Health Organization recommends the use of synthetic molluscicides, such as niclosamide. However, different substances of natural origin have been teste...

Behavior of Biomphalaria glabrata Say, 1818 (Gastropoda: Planorbidae) - 1. Morphophysiology of the mantle cavity.

Using longitudinal and transverse anatomical sections, we observed that the three cristae of the mantle of Biomphalaria glabrata (renal, rectal and dorsolateral cristae) divide the mantle cavity into three chambers which we designated air or pulmonary chamber, water inflow chamber and water outflow chamber. Using videotape filming, we observed the inflow and outflow of air and water into and fr...

Establishment of the dominant lethal test in the freshwater mollusk Biomphalaria glabrata (Say, 1818).

Mutagens in the environment may represent a long-term risk for ecosystems. The reproductive potential of populations can be affected by alterations in the fecundity and offspring viability caused by germ cell mutations. Despite the ecological relevance of these effects, there are few studies on germ cell mutagenicity in natural populations. Biomphalaria glabrata was chosen for this study becaus...
